YORK:Mr. Allen R Swanger Sr.,81, of 614 Mount Gallant Road died Friday, January 23, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Tabernacle Church of God, with the Rev. Thomas Little officiating and the Revs. Talmadge Bass and R.E. Murray assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in Newport,(Del Rio),Cocke County, Tennessee, Mr. Swanger was a charter member of Calvary Tabernacle Churc of God, where he was presently serving on the Board of Trustees aand was a former Sunday School Superintendent. He was retired from Springs Industries, where he worked as a card tender for nearly 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served as an M.P.

Surviving are his wife, Florence Vertie Hall Swanger of the home; two sons, Allen R. Swanger Jr. (Barbra) of York and Charles W Swanger(Darnell) of Rock Hill; his daughter, Glenda L. Culbertson (Joseph) of Rock Hill; two brothers, Robert Swanger of Newport,Tenn.,K.Frank Swanger of Concord , N.C.; three sisters, Anna McNabb of Mount Holly, N.C., Lester Brockwell of Newport, Tenn, and Frances Warner of Rock Hill; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grand-
children.
