Marvin Abbott
Morgantown resident Marvin Abbott, 65, died at Morgan County Hospital on Saturday, October 10, 1871.
A native of Marktree, Arkansas, born on September 11, 1916 to Charles and Gertrude Link Abbott, he married Dorothy Logsdon in January 1952 in Indianapolis and she preceded him in death in March 1980.
Abbott, a World War II Army veteran and member of Martisnville VFW, retired in 1976 after working 30 years at Diamond Chain Company in Indianapolis.
He is survived by a son, Donald Abbott of Morgantown; two daughters, Jean Smith of Zionsville and Dorothy Joann Sipes of Franklin; his mother, Gertrude Abbott of Morgantown; four stepdaughters, Ivy Logsdon of Greenwood, Marylin Jordan of Indianapolis, Jean Chitwood and Jenny Wheatley, both of Route 2 Morgantown; five brothers, Carl Abbott of Morgantown; Jack and Art Abbott of Elwood; Morris Abbott of Lafayette and Bernie Abbot of Indianapolis; 28 grandchildren and stepchandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Rev. Clarence Davis officiated at the funeral on Tuesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home with burial at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
