Agee, about 70, was fatally burned Thursday evening at his home near Spencer
when an oil lamp in his bedroom exploded. Agee, a brick mason by trade, awakened
by the explosion, tried to extinguish the flames and suffered serious burns over
his body. He died the next morning. Funeral services were held at Old Well
Christian Church with burial in the cemetery nearby. Surviving besides his wife
is one son, Raymond Agee. One sister, Mrs. Thomas Brown and a brother, Charles
Agee, both of Winston-Salem, N.C., also survive.
