James F. Kavanaugh, 66, Hamilton, Mo., passed away at his home on February 15, 2010. He had been a lifelong resident of Hamilton.

Jim was born on November 18, 1943, in Braymer, Mo., to Charles Francis and Filetta Jane Dawson Kavanaugh. He graduated from the Hamilton High School in 1961. He then attended college at Central Missouri State University-Warrensburg, taking classes in the emphasis areas of economics and business administration.

He worked in the family business, Hamilton Supply Company, for 20 years. He was co0owner for nine years. He worked 15 years for North Country Ford in the sales department. He also had worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections, WMCC and CRCC for five years as a rec officer.

He had been a lifelong member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church. Jim was also the president and a founding member of the former Hamilton Jaycees and Supper Club.

On June 5, 1965, he married Sherria K. Copple at the Ludlow Methodist Church, Ludlow, Mo.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors: Wife, Sherria K. Copple Kavanaugh, of the home; Daughter, Christa Anne (Sheldon) Lyon, Savannah, Mo.; Sons, James Matthew Kavanaugh, Kearney, Mo., and Bradley Bryan (Tina) Kavanaugh, Breckenridge, Mo.; five grandchildren, Madison Anne Lyon, James Logan Kavanaugh, Dawson Ira Kavanaugh, Macy K. Lyon, and Karly Kay Kavanaugh; Sister, Carol (Don) Rice, Hamilton; Brothers, David (Dana) Kavanaugh and Lynn (Jane) Kavanaugh, both of Hamilton; Aunts, Ina Faye Trosper, Skip Dunn, and Doris Peters; Uncle, R.D. Kavanaugh; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Service: 2 p.m., Friday, February 19, at the Hamilton United Methodist Church Family Life Center. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the church. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Inurnment at a later date at McCroskie Cemetery, Breckenridge, Mo. Memorials may be made to the cemetery. Friends may call at Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton, after 10 a.m., on Thursday.
