At her request, there will be no service for Silva C. Irvin, who died March 31, 1996, of congestive heart failure at age 92. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, March 3 and 4, in Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Irvin was born Nov. 29, 1903, in Dover in Clackamas County and raised in Eagle Creek. Her maiden name was Erdman. She worked on her family's dairy farm. In 1921 she married Lester J.; he died in 1974. She lived on their farm in Boring, then moved to Gresham and Portland.

Surviving are her son, L. Arlow of Gresham; daughters, Marlene Crane of Gresham and Marva Strous of Portland; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Boring resident Silva C. Irvin, 92, died Sunday of congestive heart failure in Portland.

She was born to Daniel and Katie (Brown) Erdman in Dover, Ore. She was raised and educated in Eagle Creek, then worked on the family dairy farm. On Nov. 30, 1921, she was married to Lester J. Irvin in Vancouver, Wash. The newlyweds moved to Boring, where they bought a farm. He preceded her in death in 1974. Mrs. Irvin lived in Boring until 1991, then moved to Gresham. She spent the past two years in Portland. She served as a committee member for the Oregon bicentennial celebration in 1959. She also was active in the Gresham Senior Center from 1964-1974. Her interests included sewing, knitting, crocheting and baking pies.

She was also preceded in death by her sons, Leland and Elwood Irvin. Survivors include her son, L. Arlow Irvin of Gresham; daughters, Marlene Crane of Gresham and Marva Strous of Portland; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

No formal service will be observed. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Thursday. Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Gresham.
