Military services M.Sgt. Richard Gene Barton, 40, of 1401 N. Blain, Altus, Okla.will be 1 p.m. in Criss Brothers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul A. Pyle officiating. burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Sgt. Barton died Tuesay at his home. He was born May 3, 1935, in Muskingum County, to Anna (Buck) Barton of Newark and the late Howard L. Barton.
He was stationed with the Air Force at Altus Air Force Base, Okla., and has served with the Air Force 23 years.
He had served in the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post in Altus, Oklahoma.

Surviving besides his mother are, his widow, Joselyn (Brooks) Barton; two sons; James Howard Barton and Richard Allen Barton, both of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Marthea Berube of Danielson, Conn.; five brothers; Jerry L. of Rt. 7; James L., Bill R., Raymond D. and Tony, all of Newark; nine sisters, Mrs. Date (Evelyn) Grise of New Mexico, Mrs. Chester (Sheila) Arthur of Fort worth Texas, Mrs. Juanita Bethards of Newark, Mrs. Jerry (Barbara) McCullough of Newark, Mrs. Kenneth (Patricia) Moran, Rt 2 Warsaw, Mrs. Edward (Kay) Moreland of Newark, Mrs. Richard (Dodi) Smith of Rt. 7, Miss Sherry Barton and Miss Lori Barton, both of Newark, and two grandchildren.
The family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

He also had a son Michael of Taiwan, b. abt 1970 1971
