Martha Jane Cook Hawkins
The death angel entered our home
on Thursday evening and claimed
for it's victim our dear and loving
mother, Martha Jane (Cook) Hawk-
ins. She was the daughter of G. W.
and Margaret Cook and was born at
Maud, W. Va., July 8, 1870 and de-
parted this life May 7, 1925, being
54 years, 9 months and 29 days old.
All that loving hands could do and
care was given t o her during her ill-
ness.
She was united in marriage to
John Hawkins of Maud, W. Va.
and to this union ten children were
born. Her husband and three
children, Carl, Lucy and one infant
have preceded her to the great be-
yond.
She leaves to mourn their loss the
following children: Mrs. Etta How-
ell of New Martinsville; Mrs. Hattie
Wright and Ellsworth Hawkins of
Reader, W. Va.; and Clara, Nellie
Forrest, and Edna at home; three
sisters, Mrs. Rachel Walker of Cam-
eron and Mrs. Carrie Wayt of Shel-
by, Ohio; three brothers: Martin
Cook of Shelby, Jacob and Frank
Cook of Maud. She leaves five
grandchildren and a host of friends.
She was laid to rest on Mother's
Day, May 10, in Cherry Grove ceme-
tery. Funeral services were conduct
ed by Rev. Ressinger of New Mar-
tinsville.
A Precious one from us is gone,
