Mr. Laurel taught Texas history at Lamar Jr. High for 37 years. He started his teaching career in Asherton ISD. He also moonlighted for a number of years at Pete's Automotive Garage and Laurel Insurance. Mr. Laurel served honorably in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Carmen (Aguirre) Laurel; and a brother-in-law, Arturo Gallardo.
Mr. Laurel is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Esperanza Laurel
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at 7 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Springfield Chapel, 1900 Springfield. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 16, 2002, at 8:40 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Springfield Chapel, 1900 Springfield to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a holy Mass at 9 a.m.
Interment will be at the Veterans section of the Laredo City Cemetery
