Harold was born in Waco, the third son of Emmette Jesse and Bess Alice Sublett Wallace. He graduated from Waco High School in 1942 and enrolled in Texas A&M University for his freshman year of college. In October, 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was sent to the University of Illinois for training. While there, he met and married his wife of 64 years, Betty W. Wallace. Upon his discharge from the Navy in January, 1946, they returned to Waco and he enrolled at Baylor University, graduating in 1948. They then moved to Houston where he was employed as an accountant, retiring from Getty Oil Company in 1985. Harold was a life-long member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), faithfully serving as Board Chairman, President and Treasurer, Deacon and Elder of the church. He delighted in being involved in the lives of his children and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Emmette and Phillip; granddaughters, Courtney M. and Andrea N. Wallace; great granddaughter, Gabriella N. Sparks, and son-in-law, Larry H. Friedman. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughters, Marilyn F. Shealey (Glenn) and Kimberly W. McKinney; his sons, Lawrence E. Wallace (Sharon) and William Scott Wallace (Linda); eleven grandchildren, Michael L. Friedman (Lauri), Mark E. Friedman, Leslie A. Friedman, William K.Wallace, Michelle Wallace Castillo, Elizabeth Wallace Witherspoon, Nathan M. Wallace (Trista), Jill Murphy Sparks (Michael), Sarah L. Murphy and Amy L. Murphy; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Eric and Lexi Friedman, Matthew and Dominique Castillo, Abigail and Emmeline Wetherbee, Rebecca, William Alex and Boaz Wallace, Brendan, Ella and Liam Sparks and Celia Marie Murphy.
