Louthera was the daughter of Josiah Elcain and Susan Delia Harris Huddleston. Her mother died when she was 4, she moved to Fresno California after 1910 with her sister Lenorah and her husband Glenn Bradbury. On May 1, 1912 she married Carl Virgil Roberts in Fresno California. They had four children Carl Woodrow, Lois Marian, Getrude Susan and Kenneth Stanley.
