Mr. Roger Arthur Dawes, 63, of 501 Third Ave. N., Texas City, died Sunday, March 11, in Galveston. Mr. Dawes was born May 6, 1909, in Crockett. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Rosenberg. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Callaway Memorial Chapel, with Rev. H. J. Rhodes, Jr. and Rev. W. Frank Gate officiating. Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wert Lawson, Porter Sallas, Nat Patton Jr., Travis Moore, 1. W. Hail and Ernest (Bud) Hale.
Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Tommy Grace Dawes of Alvin; three sons, Roger Arthur Dawes II and Thomas C., Dawes both of Rosenberg, and Don Dawes of Corpus Christi; three daughters, Mrs. Hoyt Tucker, Mrs. Guy Humphrey and Mrs. Billy Ray Goodrum, all of Rosenberg; a brother, John Thomas Dawes of Pampa; four sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Edlund of Miles City, Montana, Mrs. R. LeMay and Mrs. Johnnie Lee
Click, both of Crockett, and Mrs. Betty West of Austin; 20 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Callaway Funeral Home of Crockett was in charge of arrangements.
