Mr. Hash was a retired barber, as well as a farmer and stockman. He owned and operated Eastside Barber Shop in Yates Center for 32 years. He served in the Army in the occupation of Japan during World War II.
He was born July 11, 1929, in Chanute, the son of Thomas Simon Hash and Lillian Dale Snowden. He was raised in Fredonia and graduated from Fredonia High School. He lived in Washington state after World War II ended. He moved to Madison before he moved to Yates Center in 1952.
Mr. Hash was a member of the Yates Center Lions Club and a former member of the Jaycees. He collected antiques, oil and gas collectibles and Winchester Arms Co. memorabilia.
He married Roselea Wilson on Oct. 11, 1948, in Grandview, Wash. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Craig Hash, Fort Collins, Colo.; two daughters, Sandi Atkin, Yates Center, and Sue Walker, Belle Plaine; two sisters, Ruby Rusk, Kennewick, Wash., and Neoma Baldwin, Independence; two brothers, Gene Hash, Petaluma, Calif., and Walt Hash, Thayer; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Yates Center. Burial will be in Yates Center Cemetery. Mr. Hash will lie in state from noon today to 8 p.m. Monday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.
