Chas. Gooden Died at Clawson Friday

Chas. Gooden, for nearly 45 years a respected resident of this community, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sanford Horner, at Clawson on Sunday, Jan. 30, after a few months' illness. He has been in poor health for several years.
Mr. Gooden was born in Petrolia, Ont., in 1855. Shortly after his marriage with Miss Eliza Getty, they came to Lamotte township, Sanilac county, in 1881, and have lived in this community until a few years ago.
Mr. Gooden is survived by his widow and six children, Uriah Gooden of Gladwin, James and Frank Gooden of Detroit, Mrs. Sanford Horner and Mrs. Harry Brown, both of Clawson, and Mrs. Ben Benson of Detroit, and several grandchildren. A son, Elmer, passed away in Feb., 1921.
Mr. Gooden's remains were brought to Cass City and funeral services were held in the M. E. church on Wednesday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. Willerton, assisted by Rev. I. W. Cargo. Interment was made in Elkland cemetery.
