Jansen married Ruth Wainwright on August 28, 1943. He entered the ministry of the present Bible Fellowship Church in 1938 and was ordained in 1942. I

"Rev. Jansen E. Hartman, 89, of the Fellowship Community in Whitehall, previously of Reading, died December 7, 2007, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruth A. Hartman. Rev. Hartman retired from the Ministry of the Bible Fellowship Church denomination in 1990. At retirement, he had been pastor for 20 years of the Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Reading. In 1938, he entered the ministry and was ordained in 1942. He then pastored churches in Glendale, N.Y. and Harrisburg. In 1950, Rev. Hartman became the founding president of the Berean Bible School, a collegiate institution sponsored by the Bible Fellowship Churches that provided training in Bible theology and Christian Education. His late wife, Ruth served as Dean of Students and taught classes in Christian Education and psychology. As enrollment grew, the school moved from its Allen St. location in Allentown to South Hall St. In 1968, Berean achieved accreditation by the Northeastern Accrediting Association and was renamed Pinebrook Junior College. The school relocated to the Pinbrook Bible conference property outside East Stroudsburg. Rev. Hartman is graduate of the following institutions: Elizabeth College (B.A.) Lehigh University (M.A.) and Westminister Theological Seminary (B.D.). Rev. Hartman served as the Chairman of the Annual Conference of the Bible Fellowship Churches on thirteen occasions. He was on the Board of directors for 45 years and served on many committees, often as chairman. From 1950 to 1959, he was Director of Home Missions. Under his direction new churches were founded in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He was born in 1918 in Royersford where his father, E. R. Hartman owned a painting business and retail paint store. Three of his now deceased older brothers, Ernest, Herbert and Wilbur also became ordained ministers of Bible Fellowship Churches. Survivors: Daughters, Connie R. Hartman of Steyr, Austria, Janelle A. Hartman of Astoria, N.Y.; son, Douglas H. Hartman, Upper Montclair, N.J.; two grandsons, Douglas H. Hartman Jr., Andrew Hartman; a sister, Elnora Thompson of Pacific Palisades, Calif. Services: Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 13, at the Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, Cedar Crest Blvd. South and 1-78, Allentown, PA 18103. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, at the Bean Funeral Home, located at North 16th and Rockland Sts., Hampden Heights, Reading, PA 19604. Prior to the funeral services, a visitation will be held 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will take place at the Zionsville Bible Fellowship Church Cemetery, 6401 Vera Cruz Rd., Zionsville, PA 18092. "
