Abram Henry MURPHY, son of Abraham and Mary Josephine MURPHY, was born Dec. 25, 1860 in Perry County. Indiana and departed this life February 16, 1934, at his home in Stafford, having lived 73 yrs., 1m. and 22da.

Mr. MURPHY, with his parents, moved to Missouri when he was 8 yrs. of age. In 1884 he came to Kansas and, being one of the pioneer settlers, experienced the struggles and hardships which go to make up the early history of Kansas

In 1888 he was united in marriage to Florence SMITH. To this union were born five children; two sons and three daughters. One of the daughters died in infancy.

Mr. MURPHY was one of a family of nine children: three girls and six boys all of which, except one sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

He was baptized into the Church of Christ about thirty years ago. He was a good neighbor, kind husband, and loving father. Mr. MURPHY's death came as a shock to the entire community as he was in apparent good health for the past several months. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Those who survive are: His wife, Mrs Florence MURPHY and his children:W.A. MURPHY of Bemidji, Minn., Mrs. Nell WEBRING of Stafford, Mrs Elizabeth GROVES, of Ensign, Kansas, Mr Otis MURPHY of Stafford, eighteen grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mary STEWART,of Hutchinson, two brothers, Augustus MURPHY of Galveston, Texas,and Joe MURPHY of Grant City, Missouri.

Funeral services were conducted at the Church of Christ in Stafford by Bro. William Boaz. Burial was in the Stafford Cemetery.
