After graduating from Harvard University and the New York Law School, Mr. Spencer practiced law with the firm of Stetson, Jennings & Russell. He married Sara Means, whom he later divorced and Mrs. Natalie Clews Peabody. He was survived by his widow, his brother Henry B. Spencer of Washington, D.C. and his sister, Mrs. James D. Layng Jr. [1875-1954] of New York.
