Born in Sessenheim (Alsace) France to Jacob and Salome Heitzmann Naas. Emigrated with family to America in 1827. Settled in southern Indiana. Joined Union Army in Civil War. Died of pneumonia while on active duty in hospital in Louisville, KY. Buried in that city in Cave Hill National Cemetery. Left widow Magdalena (Malinda) Naas and several minor children.
