James Hawley Turner was born in Loudoun County, Virginia to Fielding Turner (1706-1794) Yes. And his third known wife Winnifred Hawley (1760-1794).
HIS FATHER'S WILL:
Record of Will dated 10 March 1793. Loudoun County, Va. In the name of God Amen. I FIELDING TURNER of Loudoun County being in a very weak and low state of health but in sound mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life and being willing as far as in me lies to prevent all disputes that may arise after my decease about my estate that it has pleased God to bestow upon me, do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
First, I lend to my wife, WINIFRED, one full third part of all my real and personal estate during her natural life and after her decease, I give all the moveable estate in her part to be equally divided between my sons, LEWIS, MAJOR FIELDING, JOHN and the child my wife is now pregnant with.
Item. I give to my son WILLIAM TURNER, 10 pounds current money and all my wearing apparrel and no more of my estate. My will and desire is that all the residue and remaining part of my estate real and personal be equally divided between my 3 youngest sons LEWIS, MAJOR FIELDING, JOHN, and the child with which my wife is now pregnant and their heirs and as I think my land is too small to be divided into four parts, my desire is that my land be divided into 2 equal parts and each part valued in current money and the price to be added to my other in order each child may have his equal share with the proviso that my sons LEWIS and MAJOR FIELDING have the land at the price it is valued at in their parts of my estate if they choose to have the land on those terms and I desire if either or any of my younger children so happen to die under the age of 21 years and without lawful issue, that the survivors of them have and possess their parts of the estate and my last will and desire farther is that my four younger children last mentioned (to wit: LEWIS, MAJOR FIELDING, JOHN and the child with which my wife is now pregnant) be maintained and educated during their minority out of my estate before it is divided at the discretion of my executors hereafter
mentioned.
Lastly, I nominate constitute and appoint JOHN HAWLEY, CHARLES LEWIS and JEREMIAH HUTCHISON, executors of this my last will and testament, revoking and disannuling all former and other wills heretofore by me made allowing and confirming this to be my last. B. HARRISON, his securities, entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of 3,000 pounds conditoned as the law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate in due form.

James Turner, from 1818 to 1823 kept the Holler Hotel near the railroad depot in Cambridge, Ohio. In the later years, he bought a quarter section of land (one hundred sixty acres) two miles northwest of Cambridge, and in 1831 he became the keeper of the first toll-gate on the pike west of Cambridge. And he died there July 7, 1864. His wife was Mary Holler, daughter of Joseph and Sara Holler. She was born in Lancaster county, Pa. in 1799.
This couple had five (5) children;
1) Fielding Turner 1820-1870, Moved to Shreveport, Caddo, Louisiana then Mobile, Alabama. In 1850 Fielding married Caroline Wilson from Sumter County, Alabama. Daughter of John H. Wilson and Sarah or Sallie Denmark. Together they had five children: John Henry, James, Martha Jane, George and Charles Turner.
2) Elza Turner 1823-1899 and only survives today (1882), Squire Elza Turner. He was born in 1823 at Hollar's Hotel, and was a student in Cambridge until 1844. Until 1866 he was a merchant tailor, but became a justice of the peace, and United States commissioner. He still holds both commissions, and is also a notary public and master commsissioner of the county. On June 8, 1845, he married Susan Bell, daughter of Wm. and Rebecca Bell, of Cambridge. Susan was born 1824 in Miami County.
3)Sarah Turner b.1827 who married Samuel Bell, a lawyer from Pennsylvania. Remained in Cambridge.
4)Martha J. Turner b. 1835 maried John C. Scott who was from Pennsylvania. Remained in Cambridge.
5) William H. Turner 1848 - 1851.
