"The Jefferson City Post Tribune" Wed 6/5/1940 is Prosper's obituary which says " Justice LePage dies suddenly in his office. Widely known officer suffered for sometime from heart trouble. Member of widely known Cole family. Was lst of the family; held high office in Odd Fellows Lodge. Justice of the Peace Prosper LePage died suddenly from a heart attack at his office 302a East High St. at 11:15 a.m. He was 66 years old. Attorneys W. A. Seibel and Sam James were informally discussing a case a few feet from Justice LePage's desk. Seibel said he happened to look in LePage's direction and saw the color leave his face. Before he could reach him he had fallen out of his chair and to the floor. A physician was immediately summoned and said LePage probably was dead when he fell from the chair. He had been suffering from heart trouble for several years and suffered a sharp attack a short time ago. Prosper LePage was the last of one of the county's most widely known and prominent families. Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He was the youngest child of Prosper and Elizabeth LePage and was born in this city 3/16/1874. The old LePage home place still stands at St. Mary's Blvd and Elm Street. LePage learned the painter's trade when a young man. He left that to work at the Sullivan Saddle Tree company. After the war he painted automobiles for a short time and gradually broadened the scope of his business to include general automobile service. His last place of business was on Jefferson St. He made the race for justice of the peace six years ago and was subsequently re-elected. He was past noble grand of the Odd Fellows, a member of the Maccabees and the Knights of Pythias and of the Methodist church. Mr. LePage was twice married. His first wife, Flora Green LePage died in 1911 and he married Miss Maud Smith in 1920. She survives him. He was an uncle of County Recorder, Henry G. LePage.
