Marcy Ruth Adams, 31, of Chicago, died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on August 22, 2000, battling leukemia. She was born on July 31, 1969 in Aurora, Illinois. She was diagnosed with the cancer in late July. Her sudden death leaves behind a sea of friends and family who feel blessed to have been a part of her life.
    She grew up in North Aurora and graduated from West Aurora High School in 1987 and the Recreation and Leisure Study Program at Aurora University in 1992. Marcy was the Program Manager of the Abbey Leisure Center for the Elmhurst Park District where she was responsible for senior programming, trip, concerts and special events. She was an active and vibrant participant of life.
   She is survived by her parents, John and Sue Adams of North Aurora; sister, Dawn Adams of Bolinas, CA; loved one, John Gilroy of Chicago; Uncle Ralph Kelbaugh, Aunt Nancy and Uncle Bill Close of Bowling Green, OH and other family members in Ohio, Colorado and Washington.
    She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Bess Adams of Bowling Green, Ohio; her beloved Gramy, Ruth Putnam and husband, Russ, Uncle Jim Putnam and Aunt Janet Kelbaugh, all of Bowling Green.
    A Memorial Visitation at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 N. Edgelawn (Corner of Edgelawn and Galena), Aurora will be Saturday, August 26, beginning 10 a.m. with a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the church for all her friends and family. The cremains interment will be in the family plot at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green at a later date.
    Contributions can be made to the "Walk for Marcy" Elmhurst Team in the Illinois Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light The Walk on September 16, 2000. Checks should be made payable to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Illinois and can be sent to the "Walk for Marcy Team" c/o Abbey Leisure Center, 407 West St. Charles Road, Elmhurst, IL 60126. Memorial contributions can also be given to the charity of your choice or to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 N. Edgelawn, Aurora, IL 60506 in Marcy's name.
