Age 65, son of the late Kert and Elizabeth "Betty" Barber. Mr. Barber worked as a machinist for 31 years at Copes-Vulcan, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, Erie Maennerchor and the Zukor Club. He was also president and chief steward of Local Union 938.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Barber; and a sister, Evelyn Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine "Jo" Varo Barber of Erie; two sons, Robin J. Barber and John "Poopsie" M. Barber, both of Erie; a daughter, Mrs. Jon (Kimberly) Edward of Erie; a stepson, James E. Hermann Jr. of Erie; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Richard (Pamela) Schwab of Erie; a brother, Kert Barber of Erie; five sisters, Mrs. Clayton (Ruth) McStraw of Union City, Mrs. James (Betty) Black of Jacksonville, Fla., Ann Seelinger of Erie, Mrs. Donald (Sharon) Harvey of Erie and Mrs. William (Eda) Curtis of Erie; and an aunt, 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
