Betsey was the daughter of Eleanor Campbell (1798-1873) and John McMullen (1790-1855). She married Richard Hudson on April 13, 1843 in Trumbull County, Ohio and helped raise his five children by his previous marriage. She and Richard had six children of their own: Amanda Hudson, Clarissa Hudson, Emma Hudson, Sidney Hudson, Lester Hudson, and Smith Hudson. She outlived her husband by 12 years and died at the age of 72.
