Crash Fatal To Arney MOORESVILLE — John Welcher Arney, 45, of Charlottesville, Va., and formerly of Mooresville, died Sunday as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident at Charlottesville. Mr. Arney's wife was also fatally injured in the accident. He was born May 18, 1930, in Gaffney, S.C., and was a son of the late John Franklin and Oveda Mae Grubb Arney. He was a supervisor at Frank IX Mills in Charlottesville. Survivors include four sons, Johnny Wren Arney, Jeffrey IJoyd Arney, Juan Lee Arney, all of Mooresville, and David Brian Arney of Charlottesville; one daughter, Mrs. Larry Overcash of Mooresville; three sisters, Mrs. Max Roberts, Mrs. Gene Shumake, and Mrs. Creed Cornwell, all of Mooresville; one brother, Jerry Arney of Mooresville; and two grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Arney will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Mooresville Church of God, with Rev. James D. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Gavin Funeral Home in Mooresville.
