Josephine C. Hoover, 90, Carson Valley Road, Duncansville, died Thursday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of Harry and Leah (Dickson) Dempsie. She married Ralph E. Hoover on Dec. 17, 1938, in Williamsburg, and he died Dec. 21, 1997.
Surviving are two daughters: Kay E. Wilkins and husband, Robert, of Carson Valley and Bertha Mae Dickson of Louisville, Ky, who was raised in the family home; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Hamilton of Williamsburg; and two brothers: David in Maryland and Calvin of Streetsboro, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Ralph E. Jr. and Charles E.; and three brothers: Lewis, Walter and Melvin.
Josephine was a homemaker and was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed gardening, watching the birds and caring for her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Jaime G. Olson officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Children's Miracle Network through Janet Weis Children's Hospital at Geisinger, Danville, Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital at Penn State Hershey Medical Center or to Carson Valley Church of the Brethren.
