EDNA—James Mitchell Baker, 91-year-old retired farmer, died at his home at 102 Joy St. Tuesday at 10 a.m. He was born Dec. 24, 1871, in Newton County, Arkansas, and had resided in Jackson County since 1929. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Edna Church of Christ of which he was a member, with Ted Scadden and Tom Ruble officiating. Burial will be in Edna Cemetery with Slavik Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be W. C. Martin, J. M. Martin, L.W. Martin, R.T. Baker, Jim Puckett and W.A. Rainbolt. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nancy Caroline Baker; a son, J.C. Baker of La Ward; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Pierce of Houston and Mrs. Elsie Florence Canerday of Edna; two brothers, Dee Baker of Searcy, Ark, and Grover Baker of Haskall, Ark; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
