Mr. George A. Elliott died Thursday morning, January 13, 2000. George was born June 15, 1918 in Patoka, Indiana, the son of John and Emma (Slaughterback) Elliott.

He had been a resident in the area for most of his life. George was a veteran, serving in the US Marine Corps during World War II.

Prior to his retirement in 1980 he was employed for over 40 years with Consumers Power, and was a life member of the Comstock VFW Post #6252.

George loved woodworking, camping, hunting and taking care of his granddaughter, Roxanne, along with anyone else's kids. He was known to all the children as ‘Grandpa.'

On June 5, 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Earline Rider, who survives.

Also surviving are 4 children, Karl ‘Corky' Elliott, Michael ‘Mick' (Judy) Elliott, all of Chapel Hill, NC, Roco (Pat) Elliott of Richland, Tami (Bob) DeJonge of Richland; 7 grandchildren, Steve, Scott, Shane, Doug, Corky, Mika, Roxanne; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde (Elsie) Elliott of Dongola, IL; 3 sisters, Mary (Walter) Allen of Princeton, IN, Gladys Johnson of Battle Creek, Alice (Carl) Evans of Kalamazoo, MI; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 o'clock Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with Hospice Chaplain Mary Heintzkill officiating.

Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. and Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo.
