William "Bill" Everett Smith, age 85, of Route 1, Piedmont, passed away Wednesday at his residence. Mr. Smith was a native and resident of Cherokee County most of his life. He was a retired Boiler Maker with local 454 of Chattanooga, Tenn. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Surviving are; wife, Alma Smith of Tecumseh; two daughters, Alice Carter of Cedartown and Carolyn Johnson of Tecumseh; five sons, Robert Ray Smith of Hughwood, Oregon, Paul White of Tecumseh, Charles Smith and David Smith both of Cedartown and Danny Smith of Rock Run; two sisters, Annie Dill of Florida and Bonnie Wallace of Villa Rica, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survived. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. Alabama time and 3 p.m. Georgia time at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Marshall Morgan officiating. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were; Ted Smith, Hubert Haney, William Bowman, Matthew Smith, Jeromy Johnson, Charles "Preacher" Smith, Gary Smith, J. W. Smith, John Carter and Chad Johnson. Children: Charles, David, Daniel, Minnie, Carolyn, Marilyn.
