Armantia Anne Barber first married Robert Fleming. They lived on land adjacent to the Barbers and the Braswells, and not far from Fleming land. Robert Fleming was a Confederate soldier. He died in a Confederate hospital after serving time in prison at Point Lookout, Maryland. Their youngest child, Tom, was not yet three years old.
Armantia then married James Courtney. She had eight children by Robert E. Fleming, and three children, one which died in infancy, by James Courtney.
