For a time Eugene owned a mill at Idalia, Colorado, before returning to Jefferson Co. to live. He also built the Arvada Flour Mill and operated it until his death. He also served as mayor pro-tem of the city of Arvada for a number of years and was vice-president of the First National Bank of Arvada at the time of his death.
