Irene G. Laubenthal (nee Alten), 82, of Elyria was born in Avon and she lived most of her life in the North Ridgeville-Elyria area. She graduated from Avon High School and Oberlin School of Commerce.
Mrs. Laubenthal retired from the Lorain County Auditor's Office and formerly worked for North Ridgeville Board of Education and for Stouffer's Restaurant in Fairview Park.
She played saxaphone with Laubenthal's Orchestra, a family band that played at local weddings and social functions for about 15 years in the 1950s and 1960s. Mrs. Laubenthal was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and its Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and crocheting.
Survivors include a daughter, Arlene Wacker of Penfield Township; sons, Allan R. of Wickliffe and Owen, Norman and John, all of Elyria; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Laubenthal was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
