J. T. "Bum" Smith, 77, of Piedmont, died Saturday after an automobile accident.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Ross Minto and the Rev. R. C. Prescott officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with Mickelsen Brown-Service Mortuary in charge.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Edith Gibson and Mrs. Clotele Taylor, both of Piedmont, Mrs. Helen Herndon of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Charlotte Wilson of Parrish, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Bess Haney, Mrs. Annie Dill and Mrs. Essie Green, all of Cedartown, GA., and Mrs. Bonny Wallace of Calhoun, GA.; two brothers, W. E. Smith of Bluffton and Frank Hudgins of Rome, GA.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Armitage, Glenn Colvin, J. D. Powell, James Hardy, Tex Smith and Ted Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Northside Baptist Church and a retired merchant. (Anniston Star, Anniston, Ala., Tuesday, July 9, 1974, page 7A)
