ISAAC BROCK DEAD

A dispatch from Waco, Texas, Dec 4, says: “Isaac Brock is dead here at the age, it is said, of 121 years. According to Brock’s family Bible and other documents, he was born in Buncombe county, North Carolina, March 1, 1788.”

At the time of Mr. Brock’s birth Buncombe county covered all of western Carolina. As a matter of history he was born in what is now Transylvania county and lived for many years near Cherrfield creek. His old house place can still be seen between the old Billy Duckworth home and the railroad. His name is signed to several land deeds and papers now in possession of the Duckworth family.

His first wife we are informed was a sister of old Jimmiie Siniard, and he consequently has many relatives in this section who will be pained to learn of his death. He was probably the oldest person in th Inited States.
