Fidelia, daughter of Benjamin and Cynthia Ward Hicks was born in Sheldon, NY. She married Elisha Hedges 13 Apr 1850 in Buffalo, Erie Co, NY. Fidelia and Elisha had their first two sons in Erie Co, and then moved to Rockford, Illinois for a few short years where they had their third son Frank Leslie Hedges. By 1860 this family was back in New York where they lived a few years before making their way west. By 1880 they lived in Dakota Territory where two of their sons, Charles and Frank married Dieter sisters. The Dieters and Hedges families homesteaded in northern Minnesota in Kittson County. While they lived there part of Kittson was formed into Roseau County. Around 1892 five post offices were established; Jadis, Badger, Ross, Fox and Greenbush. On September 15, 1892 Fidelia became the first postmaster of the new Greenbush post office. She also helped run a hotel in the area.--sJones.

Yellowstone News Sat. 30 Jun 1909. Mrs. Phidelia Hedges, mother of Frank Leslie of this city, Charles A. Hedges of Antelope and William Hedges of Buffalo, NY., died last Sunday January 24 after a short sickness. Mrs. Hedges was 80 years of age and one of the oldest settlers of the big Muddy Valley. The remains were buried in the Mondak Cemetery last Wednesday beside her husband. The relatives have sympathy of the entire community.
note: this obit had several errors, one mentioning her gr. son I.V. Hedges as her son so should have read that in addition to her sons, she was survived by 10 grandchildren.

Montana Death Index has Cordelia L. Hedges, age 80 d. 24 Jan 1909 so this could be Fidelia (name misspelled) which means she would have died probably at the home of one of her sons, Charles or Frank Hedges in Sheridan Co., MT. - sJones
