Mr. Albert Slaughter, age 61, was killed instantly in a train wreck Tuesday at noon at Esom Hill, GA. Funeral services will be held at Salem Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M. (Ga.Time) Thursday, with the Rev. Hugh Barrett officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery, with the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Slaughter was born October 30, 1892 in Cherokee County, AL., and had passed his entire life in and around Polk County. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and Mt. Signal Lodge No. 508 F &A.M. Pallbearers will be Hubert Williams, J.T. Williams, Max Hardin, Doyle Morris, Sammy Irwin, and Worth Williams. Surviving are his wife, three sons, Amos Slaughter, of Esom Hill, Clarence Slaughter, of Jacksonville, Ala., and Ralph Slaughter of Cedartown; one step son Fred Reed, of Jacksonville, Ala.; two daughters, Mrs. Archie Ouzis of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Clyde Hendrick, of Acree, GA.; three brothers, Willie Slaughter, of Cedartown, Johnny Slaughter, of Lougdon, Ala., and Luther Slaughter of Rockmart; three sisters, Mrs. Julie Gossett, of Piedmont, Ala., Mrs. Charles Leak, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Lucy Knight, of Chattanooga.
