Garl Crist Baber, 80, 665 Valley Brook Lane, Wabash, died yesterday, Feb. 13, 1979, at Wabash County Hospital.
He was born March 1, 1898, in Roann, the son of Lewis and Lillie Crist Baber. He had resided in Wabash for 65 years, and was the founder of Baber Motor Supply, with stores in Wabash, Peru, and until 1957, in Marion.
He married Isabelle Macadam on April 7, 1929, in Marion, and she survives, along with a son, Jack of Wabash; a daughter, Joan, wife of Andrew Myers of Darien, Conn., and six grandchildren.
Mr. Baber was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hanna Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Elks, Fraternal Order of Police, country club, and Kiwanis Club, all of Wabash. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne, a World War I veteran, and a former member of the Wabash school board.
He was a graduate of Wabash High School and attended Purdue University.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lloyd Willert officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery.
