Cecil Mae Dickson Barbree, 96, of Chattahoochee, Fla., died Wednesday, April 5, 2009, at the residence of her daughter in Valdosta, Ga. She was born on February 3, 1913, in Jackson County, Fla., to the late Henry Marshal Dickson and his wife, Callie. Mrs. Barbree was a proud resident of Chattahoochee for more than 75 years. After a 27-year career with Florida State Hospital, she retired as a Nutritionist in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Chattahoochee, Fla., where she enjoyed singing with the 39'ers Choir. Mrs. Barbree was preceded in death by her husband, Johnathan Franklin Barbree; a son, Joseph A. Barbree, Crawfordville, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Connie McDavid, Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, H.M. Dickson Jr. and Bernice Dickson; one sister, Earse Lee Messer, all of Grand Ridge, Fla.; and one great-granddaughter, Addison Summers, Shreveport, La. Survivors include a son, Bob J. Barbree (Michelle), Lakeland, Fla.; a daughter, Patricia B. Butler, Valdosta, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Eleanor S. Barbree, Crawfordville, Fla.; a sister, Sucille Baxter of Grand Ridge, Fla.; a brother, C. A. Dickson of Sneads, Fla.; numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will held at the First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee beginning at noon today, April 13, 2009. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. EDT. Burial will take place in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Pleasant, Fla. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to: Bethany Hospice, 2517 Bemiss Rd., Ste. D, Valdosta GA 31602.
