By Oct. 1856, Alzina's daughter Betsey & her husband Cornelius Sweet had died and left two daughters, Mary Ann, age 5 & Nancy Jane, age 2.
Alzina & Elisha Eaton, took in the oldest granddaughter, Mary Ann Sweet.
The youngest granddaughter, Nancy Jane Sweet, was sent to live with an aunt, Nancy "Sweet" Grieve, in Richmond, Lennox, Ontario, Canada.
In 1866, Alzina, age 60, Elijah, age 69, and Mary Ann, age 15, traveled to Iowa, from New York. A year later, Alzina died and her granddaughter Mary, went to live with Elijah Eaton's son & his wife, Turpin & Chloe Eaton. Granddaughter, Mary Ann Sweet, married Douglas H. Spaulding, at the young age of 17, at Independence, Iowa. Actual burial here
