"George E. Howell, 80, member of a pioneer family, died Sunday night at a local hospital. Born at Canemah January 5, 1867, he attended the local schools, later moving to Portland, leaving there in 1909 for Spokane. In 1927 he returned to Clackamas, where he had since made his home.
Surviving are his widow, Bernice; a son, George E. Jr, Clackamas; a brother, William H., Oregon City; a sister, Mrs. Minnie McGregor, Portland; two grandchildren, Mrs. Owen J. O'Connor, Honolulu, T. H.; and Captain John C. Howell, Panama City, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren.
He was a member of El Katif Shrine, Spokane, the Cataract Commandery of Knights of Templar, and the Woodsmen of the World. The Knights Templar will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Holman, Hankins and Rilance Funeral Chapel, followed by vault internment in Lone Fir Cemetery. Friends are asked to please omit flowers.
