He was born Feb. 17, 1932, in Anderson. Norman retired in 1994 from Conrail after 38½ years of service as a train engineer.
He was a 1950 graduate of Anderson High School and served as a United States Marine during the Korean War,
Norman was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, golf and racing. He was especially fond of Siamese cats, music, A.J. Foyt, and Dale Earnhardt Sr.
He enjoyed his family and friends, gardening, crossword puzzles, and wood working.
He was a member of AMVETS Post 26 and American Legion Post 117, both in Pendleton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dortha (Hays) Dillon; and his sister, Judith Swango and her husband Paul.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory Lahm Chapel, Pendleton, with the Rev. Lynda K. Hosek officiating. Burial will follow in Harlan Cemetery in Hancock County and will include military rites.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before service Thursday at Lahm Chapel.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Saint John's Cancer Center, Doctors David Mares, Robert Ash, Chandrika Patel, their staff and oncology nurses, and the 6th-floor staff at Saint John's.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AMVETS Post 26, Pendleton or Pendleton Emergency Ambulance Service.
