V. Maxine "Bid" Cohen, 80, Martinsville, IN, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at her residence.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1929 in Morgan County to Raymond "Rusty" Cohen and Mae (Whaley) Cohen.

Maxine retired from Eli Lilly & Company where she had been a secretary for many years. Prior to that, she was the secretary for the Metropolitan School District in Martinsville, IN.

She was a member of Brooklyn Christian Church and a graduate of Martinsville High School.

Maxine enjoyed working in the yard and especially with her flowers.

Survivors include one brother, Richard Cohen, of Mooresville; one sister, Shirley Hancock, of Indianapolis; seven nephews, Jim Messmer, Jack Messmer, Randy Hancock, Clint Cohen, Craig Cohen, Doug Cohen, and Steve Cohen; four nieces, Deanna Hagon, Debbie Myers, Janet Helms, and Karen Hase; a special brother-in-law, Robert Messmer and a special caregiver, Judy Cross.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond "Rusty" Cohen; her mother, Mae (Whaley) Cohen; three bothers,Morris Cohen , Robert Cohen, and Larry Cohen; and one sister, Ruth Messmer

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville. Services are at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be at Centerton Cemetery in Centerton, Indiana.
