As a young girl, she attended Eureka public schools and graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1933. She worked in a clothing store and as an office clerk until she married Howard Vance Cheney on March 11, 1939. Howard passed away in 1998. Ruth was a member of the Grainfield United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, and a local EHU. She was an avid 4-H supporter and volunteered for the American Cancer Society. Hobbies included traveling, knitting, playing bridge in several card groups, and planting flowers. She treasured the times spent with family and friends. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will miss her, but we know that she is sheltered and safe from pain and sorrow.
