Shirley Ann Paden Stiles, 86, of Galesburg, died at 8:45 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
Shirley was born on June 20, 1923 in Lincoln, NE the daughter of Paul Glenn and Harriet Louise Cratty Paden. She married John Elmer Stiles on March 2, 1946 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1989. Surviving Shirley is 2 sons, John R. "Rich" (and Linda) Stiles of Dubuque, IA and Mark P. (and Katherine) Stiles of Hurst, TX; a daughter, Mary Beth (and Donald) Colburn of Galesburg; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband,
John, her parents, a daughter, Carol Anne in November, 1949; and 2 sisters, Mildred Stewart and Mary Lou Weathers.

She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1941. She attended St. Mary of the Woods in Indiana and Loyola University, Chicago. Shirley worked for 20 years at Galesburg Mental Health Center, retiring in 1985. She was an organist and vocalist for local area catholic churches from 1935 to 1990. Shirley was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Legion of Mary. She was a member of A.F.S.C.M.E Union.

Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Rev. Deus-Dedit Byabato officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at Watson Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 12 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral mass. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in St Joseph's Cemetery, Galesburg. The family suggests memorial donations be made to F.I.S.H. of Galesburg.
