This man (stone marker)was killed in the Scofield mine disaster, May 1st, 1900. There are 2 Rileys buried side by side. The stone reads Reilley and the head board readss Riley. Different lists of the dead show two rielys but the spelling changes on each list. At the time of the burials (May 5th, 1900) half the names were mispelled. 61 Finns died and no one knew how to spell their names. It does make for rough going by a historian. Born Barre county, Luzerne Co. Penn. One of the victims of the Winter Quarters Mine explosion. Last name might have been Riley.
