RIMERSBURG MOTORCYCLIST KILLED
2nd Youth Critically Injured
A Rimersburg area youth was killed and another critically injured in a motorcycle accident on Route 422 at the Bonnie Brook crossing at 4:15 p.m. yesterday.
State Police said Roland Ray Buzard, 18, Rimersburg R.D. 2, was dead on arrival at Butler County Memorial Hospital. Buzard died of a fractured skull, severe scalp lacerations, and internal injuries, according to Butler County Coroner William F. Young, Jr.
A companion on the motorcycles, Frank Edward Hagan, 17, of Rimersburg R.D. 2, is in critical condition with a head injury and multiple lacerations at the Butler hospital.
Failed to Stop
The two youths were riding south on a Honda on Legislative Route 10033, and failed to stop at the intersection with Route 422, three miles east of Butler. Their vehicle went into the westbound lane, where it struck a 1965 sedan driven by Daryll K. Daily, 19, of Portersville. They were then knocked across the highway into the eastbound lane, where Buzard was hit by a car operated by John C. Bulford, 26, of 13 Reiber Ave.
Hagan, who was believed to be the operator of the motorcycle, flew completely over the Bulford car, and into the grass beyond the road.
The two youths were transported to the hospital by the Butler Ambulance Service, which arrived on the scene of the accident within minutes after it occurred. Driver Pat Desmond said he was returning home after a previous call when he arrived at the scene.
The East Butler Fire Company was called to wash gasoline off he highway.
