Doris Lucille Skinner, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Dirks) Beanblossom, was born on April 12, 1924 at Carleton, Nebraska. She passed away on April 7, 2010 at Perkins Pavillion in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 25 days.
Doris was one of 8 children, she was baptized and confirmed in the Bethel Church, Carleton, Nebraska and has been a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport since 1949.
She graduated from Carleton Public High School. On October 17, 1943 she was united in marriage to Otha "Dale" Skinner at the Brethern Church in Carleton, Nebraska by the Rev. C.E. Johnson, to this union 4 children were born. They lived in Deshler until March, 1948, when they purchased the theater in Davenport and moved there, Doris assisted her husband in running the outdoor movies. She also assisted her husband Dale as custodian for the Davenport Community Schools for over 30 years.
In February of 1998 she moved to Sunnyside Retirement Home in Hastings, Nebraska and later the Hastings Good Samaritan Village, where she resided until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale on November 22, 1989; son, Dennis Skinner, daughter, Connie Skinner, granddaughter, Lisa Blau, sisters, Ida Busch, Faye Leggett, Helen Beanblossom, Wauneta Weichel and Shirley Petersen.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Blau and husband Ernest of Davenport, Nebraska and Denise Snow and husband Douglas of Hastings, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren: Christie Tofflemire, Brent Blau and wife Jen, Angie Kathman and husband Mitch, Derick Snow and wife Laurie, Darcy Snow and special friend Justin Schneider and Kayla Shoemaker and husband Ty; 11 great grandchildren; sister: Maxine McKay of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother, Fred Beanblossom and wife Alice of Doniphan, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
