Moses was the third of the fourteen children of William and Susanna Chandler, and was born May 19, 1720. He was twice married: June 28, 1742, to Dorothy Marble of Andover, who died in 1760; (2) March 19, 1762, to Elizabeth Kendall or Kimball of Leicester.

Moses Chandler was a soldier in the French and Indian war, and removed with his family to Winthrop, where he followed the trade of a blacksmith. He died in Wilton, March 16, 1820.
