Joseph Oli Wolden was born October 22, 1896 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Sievert and Marit Wolden. He graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls and attended South Dakota State College in Brookings. On November 26, 1932 he married Georgia Cross. They had one son, Curtis Joe who was born on December 10, 1940 and died of polio on Septmeber 29, 1948. Joe and Georgia were also foster parents to Sharon Klippenstein. Joe was employed at Jordan Millwork as plant supervisor for 60 years, retiring in 1975. He enjoyed family get-togethers with three sisters-in law, Neva (Kenneth) Blood, Ione (Bill) Allan, and Judy (Ernest) Johnson, and two brothers-in-law, Warren (Arley) Cross and Sam (Velma) Cross. Joe was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Legion of Honor and the El Riad Shrine, where he was an honor member of the directors' staff. Joe and Georgia lived in Sioux Falls all their lives at 336 N. French Ave. They spent their retirement years at their Mesa, Arizona home in the winter, where Neva, Sam, Judy and Ernie also wintered, and their summers in Sioux Falls and at Neva's Lake Madison cabin where they enjoyed family reunions.
