Willie Ann Kimbrell's parents were Ransom Kimbrel and Catherine Baldwin Nisbet who came to Texas from Alabama in the mid-1850's. She was born in Texas, probably in Rusk County. Her father worked as a wagon maker at a steam mill around Henderson, Texas. Willie Ann Kimbrel married John Goodman Howell on January 16, 1873 in Rusk County, Texas.
