EDWARD BAYLIS

Edward Baylis, 79, who had resided at 1110 N. Carver since 1932, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital, having been in failing health the past few years.

Mr. Baylis was born May 3, 1901, in Clarksburg, the son of William Edward and Julia L. Stone Baylis. He was married to Nellie Carter Dec. 20, 1925, in Napoleon, and she survives.

He had been a self-employed auto mechanic since 1946 and prior to that he was an employee of the Hyatt Chevrolet Co. He was also accomplished in refrigeration work. He was a member of the Bethel Apostolic Church.

In addition to the widow, survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Danny (Edna) Wagner, Greensburg, and Mrs. Rev. E. Ray (Ruth M.) Aldrich, Galesburg, Ill.; three sons: James C. Baylis, William E. Baylis and Robert J. Baylis, all of Greensburg; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. David (Anna Lora) Morgan, Marion, Iowa, Mrs. Fred (Beatrice Marie) Ottenbacher, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Elmer (Marguerite Willeford) Jolliff, Greensburg.

The services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Bethel Apostolic Church with the Rev. Glenn Seaman officiating, and with burial in the South Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home and after 12 noon Friday at the church.
