The Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.I did not know this person well. I remember Bill walking around Grinnell most of my life. You could see him walking almost anywhere with his backpack. I would sometimes see him at closing time at the bars, as he had night time clean up in at last two bars in Grinnell. My girlfriend (who works at the hospital) said he hung out and talked to them quite often.
He wasn't a friend, but Grinnell lost someone that was definitely a part of our heritage.
